Dr.
Larry Nichter has been performing Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery in Southern California since 1985. His outstanding
surgical skills and warm way with patients continues to bring
him recognition locally and nationally among patients and
physicians alike.
Dr.
Nichter has been featured in U.S. News and World Report,
Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, Orange CountyRegister and appeared on TV and Radio. He has been acknowledged in Orange Coast Magazine as one of "The Best Plastic
Surgeons in Orange County" each year since1996 when the
survey began.

A graduate of
Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Nichter went on to complete
his internship and residency in general surgery at UCLA Medical
Center. Dr. Nichter completed his Plastic & Reconstructive
surgery residency at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
In addition he completed several advanced Plastic Surgical Fellowships
at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Dr. Nichter received
a Masters of Science degree in Surgery from the University of Virginia.
He has extensive training in advanced Aesthetic Surgical Procedures.
Following his training he has taught the art and science of plastic
surgery as a Tenured Professor and Chief of Plastic Surgical Research
at the University of Southern California. He has trained and served
as mentor for numerous plastic surgical residents and fellows over
the past two decades.
Dr. Nichter
has extensive training and experience in Cosmetic Surgery. He has
performed thousands of surgeries for the face, eyes and body including
breast augmentation, lift and reduction, liposuction, nose reshaping,
laser skin resurfacing, chemical peel, upper and lower eyelid surgery,
face lift and forehead lift. He is skilled in the latest techniques
including minimal scar Eyelid, Brow, Cheek, Neck and Breast lifts,
Augmentation and Reduction. Advanced techniques such as laser and
Endoscopic assisted surgery are commonly incorporated to minimize
recovery times, and maximize aesthetic results. Dr. Nichter's reconstructive
surgical experience concentrates on minimal scar breast reconstruction,
repair/correction of skin cancer, traumatic and congenital deformities
including craniofacial deformities, birthmarks, prominent ears,
burns, and hand deformities. The special techniques and challenges
of reconstructive surgery have enhanced his skills and brought added
dimension to his approach of the intricacies in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Nichter's
awards and honors are extensive. He is board certified by the American
Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and has
Certification of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He
is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a Fellow
of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). He is also a member
of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Association of Plastic Surgeons,
Association of Academic Chairmen of Plastic Surgery, American Society
for Laser Medicine and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons
among others. Dr. Nichter has received several exemplary honors
and awards for exceptional medical and surgical abilities in plastic
surgery and excellence in the advancement of plastic surgery. Some
of these honors and awards include Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society,
a medical honor society which comprises the top ten percent of medical
students, the "Outstanding Surgical Resident Award" at
UCLA and "Outstanding Resident Award" for the state of
Virginia The University of Virginia also honored him by establishing
the "Larry S. Nichter Award" to award for outstanding
plastic surgery research. He has authored more than 120 scientific
publications on the field of plastic surgery, several book chapters,
and has lectured extensively. He has served on the editorial board
of The Annals of Plastic Surgery and as a reviewer for The
Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Nichter is
an Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery and former
Subsection Chairman of the Inservice Examination Committee. He has
served on several Committees and as Course Instructor for the American
Society of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Nichter
has achieved international recognition for his outstanding work
and experience in Plastic and Reconstructive adult and pediatric
surgery and has served as a Visiting Surgeon both locally at UCLA,
Loma Linda, and UCI, nationally and internationally in countries
including South America, Central America, and the Far East. In addition
to treating unique, difficult and unusual problems referred to him
by other physicians near and far, he also donates several weeks
of his time annually to help treat those less fortunate around the
world. Dr. Nichter is President and Founder of the Plasticos Foundation,
a non profit group which provides reconstructive care to needy children
abroad and in this country and trains surgeons so that they may
be self sufficient. A recent film of an Interplast trip in which
he was a team leader to Vietnam received an Oscar Award for the
best Short Documentary Film. He dedicates hundreds of selfless
hours to developing countries where he performs surgery and provides
training to local surgeons. Over the past two decades he has been
on more than thirty medical missions. In addition to maintaining
his busy private practice, he maintains the rank of Clinical Professor
of Plastic Surgery at the USC School of Medicine and has served
as Visiting Professor at other leading universities.
